At Boldmere Dental Practice we regularly receive questions about dental implants. As implant therapy becomes the gold standard for tooth replacement, we strive to provide transparent, reliable answers to your most common concerns.
1. Am I a suitable candidate?
Dental implants have a success rate of 90–97% over 10 years and are ideal for adults with a fully mature jawbone. However, eligibility may be affected if you have insufficient bone volume, active gum disease, smoke or have systemic conditions like uncontrolled diabetes. During your consultation, Principal Dentist Dr Liam Esposito will review your medical and oral health (including X-rays or CBCT scans) to determine your suitability.
2. What does the treatment involve?
The implant process typically includes:
Consultation & planning; Oral examination, medical history review, and diagnostic imaging led by Dr Liam Esposito.
Consent; Once a treatment plan has been decided with the team and patient, a personalised consent letter is provided for the patient.
Implant placement; A titanium implant post is inserted under local anaesthetic, sutures maybe used.
Time to Heal; The implant fuses with your jawbone over 3 to 6 months.
Abutment & crown placement – After healing, the abutment (the connection between the implant and crown) is fitted and a custom crown attached.
Early loading protocols (“same-day teeth”) may be recommended in selected cases, depending on bone stability.
3. What is the recovery timeline?
Post-surgery, most patients experience mild swelling and discomfort, typically resolving within 1–2 days. Complete osseointegration generally takes 3–6 months, though complex cases might extend this to 12 months. Follow-up visits are essential to confirm healing before crown placement.
4. What are the costs involved?
At Boldmere Dental Practice we provide transparent pricing, as detailed on our website

Planning fee (photos, x-rays & intraoral scan): £400 (deducted once treatment begins)
3D scan: £150

5. Are dental implants worth it?
Yes. Dental implants:

Improve a patient’s confidence to smile.
Prevent bone loss
Offer long-term durability (10+ years) with proper care
While they require a higher upfront investment, implants outperform dentures and bridges in function and longevity.
